Natus Vincere have secured a spot in the semi-finals at DreamHack Open Leipzig after defeating FaZe 16-9 on de_train.
The top spot in Group A at DreamHack Leipzig came to be contested by Natus Vincere and FaZe, two teams riding the wave after posting convincing victories over SK Gaming and Luminosity Gaming, respectively, during the first round of matches.
The opening stages of the first half were a complete blowout as Na`Vi capitalised on every mistake made by FaZe and continuously won rounds even when losing a player early on. It was only when FaZe were down 0-8 that they finally put their foot down to hold back Na`Vi, with five consecutive rounds going their way. Na`Vi would be able to take the following round, but FaZe hit back right after to bring the scoreline to 6-9.
Na`Vi through to the last-four stage
Na`Vi grew their lead by winning the opening two rounds on the CT side, but then FaZe rallied back with a third-round buy. Na`Vi came within touching distance of pulling off a major eco upset in the next round, but Mikail "Maikelele" Bill held strong and won a 1vs3 clutch inside B.
FaZe carried this momentum into two more rounds to cut the deficit to 9-11 and put some pressure on Na`Vi. After a short break, the CIS team came out looking fierce and won five rounds straight on the back of a quad kill by Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko in an eco round to advance to the semifinal stage.
